BLOOMER PINES-Evansville Bowl scored two runs in the
sixth to break a 6-6 tie to defeat Kewaunee Miller Genuine Draft 8-6 in
the finals of the Wisconsin NAFA State Tournament. For manager Jay
Hrdlicka's club, it was their fourth state title. They won titles in
1994, 1995, 1997, and were runner up last year. They have won 15 of the
last 17 games they have played in state tournament play.
For pitcher Bryan Lathrop, the championship game
marked his sixth win in the tournament, smashing the old record, shared
by three other pitchers, who had four. Lathrop has a 13-0 record in
1999 NAFA championship play, including travel league.
